Last class for 2011

Well it's been a busy time for finishing projects that were started during the year. The classes are a little quieter with some of the ladies doing Grandma duties and celebrating early Christmas with their families. We went out to lunch last Thursday after our last class of the year. Lunch was nice, but it was so noisy that we could hardly hear each other talk. Sorry no photos.....too busy listening and eating.

This is Pat's latest project.....

Patsy's Xmas blocks, soon to be a finished queen size quilt

I hope everyone has a great Christmas, happy holidays and safe travels.....

See you in 2012

WIP's

All the girls are busy getting quilts and projects finished for Xmas. We have 3 very lucky girls sailing the high seas across to New Zealand and back, over the next few weeks. Ahoy girls, say hello to Jackie for us.......

I have been busy catching up with new projects for next year........

 Sampler for 2012

My Courthouse Steps very bright quilt as you go quilt, that I also did school house quilting on. I think the extra black pearl thread quilting has really made this quilt. It looked nice but very flat before.

This is Wendy's quilt top just waiting for borders now.

I think it has come together nicely. Well done Miss Wendy.

A winner..........

Congratulations Pamela... Quilting withRosie@blogspot.com

Colour Riot by Pamela Jones

We had a great day at the Queensland Quilt n Craft Fair on Saturday. I feel  inspired from seeing so many beautiful quilts.......
There were too many to select one favorite, I'm a  bit of a traditionalist with hand applique and hand quilted quilts, but these days the art quilts are just amazing. So hard to vote for just one.....

I have a class tomorrow, a lot of the girls went down to the show. I'm looking forward to hear what was their favorite quilt and to see any new purchases.

A review of the last few weeks

How time fly's, our lives are so busy these days. One week blurrs into another and then it's three week since I have posted anything on my blogs. I bought and now set up the secondhand longarm in the shop. She is old but solid needed some new parts and polish. The parts ordered from America have arrived, just waiting for technician now. Hopefully by the end of October I will be practicing on the (beast) machine. It is so big a bit daunting but I'm sure we will create some beautiful quilts.

Willing helpers

Master apprentice

Kim and myself looking forward to a bit of creative quilting

Most of the girls from the shop will be going down to Brisbane this week/weekend to see the Queensland Quilt Show. It's a great place to catch up with friends and be creatively inspired. There are always so many beautiful quilts to look at. If you are heading there say hello to Kim at the Bernina stand on Saturday...

Our friend Pamela who is a frequent visitor to the shop has two quilt in the show this year, and has won a prize. but we don't know any more than that. Both quilts are hexagons and machine quilted, we are all excited for Pamela, Congratulations.....................

I will post photo's with Pamela's permission of course next week....

Trunk Show

Yesterday when we got to class there was an invitation to go the Buderim Quilters Night Group. They were having their monthly Trunk Show and their guest was Pamela Jones. Pamela teaches machine embroidery and patchwork occasionally at Kimz shop. The Trunk Show helps the Buderim girls raise money for Breast Cancer and last night and through out the year, with a gold coin or two entry and raffle tickets they have raised over $500.00. Well done girls.

Kim (Kimz Sewing Center), Julie, Angela, Helen and myself met up, and we caught up with Margret, Jenny (sewsocrazy.blogspot.com) and Jane other friends and the girls from the Angel.

What a night, Pamela has been doing patchwork since 1983 and although a few quilts are missing there were still nearly 45 quilts for us to see. Just amazing. Up until 1998 - 2000 most quilts were hand quilted, then Pamela ventured into machine quilting. Check out quiltingwithrosie.blogspot.com, next week as Pamela should have all the photos we took for her on her new blog site by then.

Here are a couple of photos of her quilts that I took last night, these are my favourites.

Thanks for stopping by, I would love to hear any comments about my blog.
I hope you all have a great weekend
