Well....Christmas....the New Year and Australia Day has come and gone.....and now where into February.....where has the time gone....

I have had 7 weeks away from teaching just to have a break and it gives the ladies a chance to catch up and finish  their projects and I get to work on my own stuff......having said that we have been meeting at the shop as a social group on Thursdays....and going out for lunch to celebrate birthdays....and I have really enjoyed it...

Barbara, Angela and Debs have finished putting there Circle Game Quilt tops together ( Jen Kingwell design) ......so excited for them....and a couple of other ladies are still working on their blocks.....Barabra has started making another Circle Game quilt in soft pastel......it is a bit addictive making these blocks.....I have just about finished making the all circles of my second quilt and I have been drafted 4 extra block to make a bigger quilt this time.....

Ummmm.....don't seem to have a photos of Debs quilt.....Sorry Debs

I hope the ladies will have there quilts or quilt top finished for a showing in May at the Maleny Magic Retreat (0754999954)....If you have not heard Jen Kingwell will be the teaching this year....

So yesterday was the first class for the year.....

The Thursday group are willing to try new projects that will help build their skills and learn more about putting colours and fabric together..... so this year for those who want to go on a creative journey they are designing their own quilt.....

All the ladies have made beautiful quilts over the years and we all get to a stage in our Patchwork and Quilting life where we want to design our own quilt.....and for some people the first question is how and where do you start.....

We decided Medallion quilt as there is center panel and lots of borders.....we are very lucky to have Angela in our group and she volunteered to draw up a couple of different patterns for the center....and the other ladies will pick the borders... so far Libby selected Pinwheels and Debs wants to do a disappearing 4 Patch....I also suggested that a border with applique......and the rest of the ladies are undecided......all the applique will be done on the machine....so that those who have never used stitch n wash or iron-on webbing learn how to work with those products and then they sew it onto a background fabric using satin stitch or blanket stitch or any of the other fancy stitches their machines can do....

My part is to draft the blocks to fit each round.......and to keep them on track.....

We  are all very excited about our project for the start of 2014.......do you have a new project for this year......if so.....send me a photo and I will post it on this blog......

Happy Stitching .......Cathy
